I also taught speech pathology classes for five years to undergraduate students. My background in communication hasallowed me to work with all age groups and work in many diverse environments,including Early Intervention, Public schools, MRDD, Private practice, Hospitals and Rehabilitationcenters. I also teach through Columbia via an organization called Peer Health Exchange, which allows me to work with a group of 9th graders and to teach a comprehensive sexual health and wellness curricula. At UVA, I am involved in youth mentoring as a Program Director of "GEMS" (Girls Excited about Math and Science), where I teach exciting lessons and conduct experiments with a class of elementary school girls in a variety of scientific topics, while I am also the Head Program Director of Youth Mentoring at UVA. I was also involved in tutoring throughout high school, where I worked with a group of special needs students. While I tutor in a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Science (especially Biology and Chemistry), and Humanities, which are most strongly reflected in my own studies. In my experience in the areas of reading and writing in particular, strong literary thinking skills helped me to be more creative and set myself apart in many of my applications to college, so I am passionate about helping students of any age to become stronger writers. I am also passionate about enhancing students' skills in critical thinking, especially through STEM topics, which can set students up for success in any difficult course or standardized test. I’m fascinated by what makes something ‘alive’, and how something as complex as the human body can exist. I often brought home mice, birds and insects to study their behavior more closely.During my high school education I was more focused on Biology subject than other subjects due to my childhood interests in the things related to life. After completing my 12 year education I pursued my educational career in life sciences and did my Bachelors in Biochemistry followed my Masters in Molecular Biology. Due to interests in life sciences I became able to publish three (3) international publications in the field of Biological sciences. After that I started my Doctoral degree in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics and currently I am working on "bioplastic producing bacteria".I like teaching as a profession and I take it as my hobby. I have many relatives related to teaching profession. I started teaching when I was an undergraduate student. I taught Biology to high school students. During my PhD coursework I taught microbiology related courses to undergraduate students for one year. Now I am working with San Jacinto College Central, Pasadena, TX as Microbiology instructor. That is why I want to pursue my professional career as a professor of Biology.
