I'm a freshman at Stanford University pursuing a degree in mathematical and computational science. I've been tutoring students from grades 3-12 throughout high school, and I look forward to continue in college. Nothing excites me more than learning something new, and I strive to share my excitement with my tutees.While I can tutor a variety of subjects, I'm most experienced in test prep and STEM subjects. I really love tutoring and sharing my love of learning with other people. I've tutored middle school students for a year and I love it. My students and I usually meet 1-3 times a week and they have all made significant positive changes in test scores and overall understanding of a variety of subjects. I am patient, encouraging, and friendly. I understand that each individual learns differently and I tailor my lessons to each student.My hobbies are exploring downtown Phoenix, playing sports, making art, and listening to music. I have a cocker spaniel named Ranger and a chronic french fry craving, for which the only cure is french fries. My favorite author is Fyodor Dostoevsky and I'm about to begin pursuing degrees in Art and English at Hillsdale College in Michigan. I hope to meet you soon!

I received my bachelor's degree from Butler University in 2011. I am currently completing graduate study in musicology at the University of Illinois. My research focuses on hip hop music and political life in Morocco. When I am not pursuing my own project, I am usually teaching. I have served as a graduate teaching assistant for U of I's Introduction to World Music course for two years. Before attending graduate school, I worked as a certified substitute teacher for K-12 general and special education in Michigan. I also volunteered as a literacy tutor with the Family Learning Institute in Ann Arbor, MI. While I am comfortable tutoring in a wide range of humanities and language arts subjects, I am most passionate about teaching English and reading comprehension. I believe students' advancements in these subjects positively impact all other academic areas. Every student can build confidence in reading and writing, and have fun doing it. I see education as a collaborative effort and I work to bring my students' personal perspectives into our lessons. Watching a student learn new things is exciting, but seeing them recognize the power of their own knowledge and experiences is even better! In my spare time, I enjoy making and listening to music of all kinds, reading and writing science fiction, running long distances (slowly), and spending a lot of time outdoors.

My elementary education background led me to a 15 year journey of substitute teaching. I have loved the challenge required to teach in a different setting every day. I now look forward to helping students remotely with their lessons. Together we'll discover, understand, apply, analyze, evaluate and create! Let's get started!

I have been teaching for eleven years at a small middle school in western PA. Ten of those years have been spent as an 8th grade language arts teacher. I love what I do because I love working with young adults and exposing them to different texts. I find that I work well with this age group and am able to relate to them.The cornerstone of my teaching philosophy is that once students know you care about them and their success, they will put forth extra effort to do well in your class.

I am a graduate of Penn State University. After receiving my B.A. I attended Rutgers University for my M.A. in Political Science. Since graduation, I have traveled extensively, teaching American Law at the University of Oregon; teaching a GRE prep class at American University; and SAT prep at a nonprofit for underprivileged kids in Philadelphia. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I'm most passionate about Math, Writing, and History. I love working with students to improve their standardized exam scores and its a lot of fun to watch students jump 200-300 points in weeks. I firmly believe that preparation is the secret to success and-- as a tutor-- I'll teach you each exam inside-out, along with all the tips and strategies that will help you achieve your goals. In my free time, I enjoy chess, frisbee, football, and running.

I graduated from San Diego State University. Go Aztecs! I received my Bachelor of Arts degrees in Spanish and Political Science. Realizing that a well rounded education would require me to leave the four walls of the university, I gained "real world" experience for both of my degrees. To complete my Spanish degree, I studied abroad in Spain during my last semester in college, immersing myself in the Spanish culture, history and traveling to several different cities throughout Spain. To add real world experience to my political science degree, I interned with the California State Assembly. My interest in tutoring is to take two subjects which can sometimes seem very conceptual, and to show how they can relate to our everyday lives. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy hiking at Red Rock, SDSU basketball, traveling to Mount Charleston (both in the summer and the winter) and coming up with my next small business idea.

I have taught math and science at a charter school for the last four years. I graduated from Arizona State University Cum Laude in 2015.My favorite subject to tutor is algebra, mainly in the 7th-8th grade range - I love showing ways to check your work and get satisfaction from success! I absolutely believe that mathematics can be fun, but that it may take some time before every person can see it. When I teach, I like to make multiple examples with my student to let them see the connections instead of giving rules to memorize.

I began teaching high school English in Hawaii in 2012 through Teach For America (TFA). TFA is one of the most selective teaching programs in the country accepting just 11% of applicants as of 2011. I finished my first year in the classroom by being chosen to be the youngest AP Language teachers in the state and spearhead the program at my school. I built a curriculum tailored to the students needs and interests and was not afraid to tackle difficult subjects head on through literature and writing.My second year, I was also asked to run the theater program at the school. I worked with the students to write an original musical as well as find creative ways for the students to express themselves. I also coached the cross country and track team at the school - teaching leadership, teamwork, and perseverance.I know I can tailor curriculum to your specific needs and interests. I am not afraid to push for growth while simultaneously creating a nurturing learning environment.
