Hello, I have a passion for learning and I enjoy sharing that with students by teaching. I've taught so many subjects since I started teaching in 1992 at a small private school in Tucson. I've worked with students in grades K-12. I enjoy all the subject areas I've listed.The best way to increase knowlege and self confidence is through hard work. Raised in Great Britain and in Germany, I have studied classical music, playing the piano as well as classical voice (opera) at the Conservatory in Munich, Germany as well as in Vienna, Austria and thus, much enjoy the arts. In addition to my artistic background, I also carry an academic background in biology and am hexa-lingual. Upon my arrival in the U.S., I obtained a degree of B.S. in finance from Rutgers University and have worked within the financial industry as a financial analyst as well as as an accountant for over ten years. Nevertheless, I have always carried a profound interest in teaching and tutoring throughout my career while working on Wall Street and within the financial industry. In particular, I enjoy English literature, mathematics, the sciences as well as learning and teaching languages.With time, I increasingly became aware of my fondness for tutoring and teaching while helping youngsters, adolescents and adults alike with a variety of subjects and thus, decided to dedicate my time further to tutoring and teaching.

Born and raised in a French speaking country, I obtained my Bachelor's degree in France and moved here in America where I obtained my Master's Degree in art of teaching (MAT) from Frostburg State University. Since graduation, I have taught college, high, and middle school students. I am passionate about the diverse cultures of the francophone world and of the world in general. Learning a foreign language takes time and dedication but opens the world to you and helps you acquire your world citizenship as the world is becoming a "global community". Congratulations on making it thus far! I believe that education at large should provide students with the opportunity to think beyond traditional boundaries, and discover new ideas that represent divergent cultural and intellectual perspectives of the world. Education should therefore prepare learners to become informed and active global citizens.As teacher of French, it's always a pleasure to facilitate and develop the learning process towards these goals. With my teaching, I try to enhance students' technical mastery and use of the language as well as I aim to expand their perspectives, international education, tolerance and appreciation of cultural differences.In my spare time, I enjoy exercising, watching sports, dancing, reading, and traveling. I graduated from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor of Arts in Classics focusing on Latin and Latin literature. During college, I have found that I work well teaching people individually or in small groups. Not only could I experiment with my teaching style, I also gain new ideas and perspectives on the subject. My favorite hobbies include reading science fiction, fantasy or historical fiction and researching events and people in history, so I aim to tutor English, Literature and History here. I love being able to discuss books and history with other people so I am excited to try and help others get better and appreciate these subjects as much as I do. In my spare time, I enjoy building up by cooking language skills (currently working on Spanish and Japanese), drawing and reading manga in addition to piles and piles of books.

I'm wrapping up my undergraduate career at Columbia University, majoring in Classical Studies. That means a dead language--Latin--and a lot of history, philosophy, mythology, and the like. I love it; I love the way it makes me think and interact with language. The idea is to write in our own living language, and I'm currently finishing up that self-indulgent, semi-autobiographical first novel. I think it's great---we'll see if anyone else agrees.I attended the Brunswick School in Greenwich, CT from 2002-2006. I worked hard, and I did very well. I was admitted early to Harvard my senior year, where I enrolled in Fall 2006. Long story short, my father was chronically ill, and I left school to help care for him. He required more care, and for longer, than anticipated, but it was not a choice I would ever reverse. And if, for now, qualities born of that experience must recommend me more than the usual benchmarks of achievement, they may be of more value anyway. Compassion and patience, with recourse to humor, are certainly invaluable for a tutor.I have always been able to do well in academic settings and test-taking. Much of this success derives from long-hours devoted to assignments and preparation, but no small part owes to the way my mind learns. My mind is suited to books and the classroom, and this is a convenience for which I am very fortunate. I recognize, however, that every mind learns in its own way---a reality that institutional education cannot accommodate. I make it my priority to determine what methods of demonstration and motivation are best suited to every student I work with.I look forward to working with you. Hello fellow students!My name is Peter, and I currently live in Park Slope. I've just moved into the neighborhood with a friend from college after spending a year living in London. Before that I graduated college (Princeton) where I studied History. I'm excited to be back on the East Coast and to get a chance to continue working with students!While I'm comfortable work with students of all ages, my most recent teaching experience was serving as a volunteer teacher's assistant for sixth, seventh, and eight graders in English, Math, and Science. Before this experience, however, I have worked as a coach, mentor, and tutor with students age 9-18 on and off for the past ten years.I enjoy learning with students of all skill levels, and hope to be able to help you soon!

My expertise is in tutoring Ancient Greek and Latin for all levels of experience, and mathematics from elementary/middle school prealgebra to multivariate calculus, as well as writing strategies and development, and I also have a painting and drawing background and got a 5 on my AP studio art portfolio

During that time, Ive been responsible for teaching courses, helping students learn to write college-level essays, grading assignments, with a part-time gig scoring standardized tests.My archaeology and ancient history training has qualified me to tutor in European and World History, as well as Classical and Medieval Civilization. I am also a qualified tutor in Latin and Ancient Greek languages language-learning is my favorite subject, and I have many tips and tricks to share. More generally, Ive been through grad school, and I have experience in the tests and skills involved in getting through it all: the GRE, writing skills, reading comprehension.My aim in tutoring is to help students understand what the test-writers and professors are looking for when they give assignments or standardized exams, but my philosophy is serious goals, fun getting there. I try to include games and integrating pop culture references or silly mnemonics to help make the learning process a little more interesting.When Im not tutoring, I keep myself busy with museums, baking, calligraphy, board games, and learning more history.
