As an educator, my teaching philosophy rests upon three fundamental pillars, each of which forms the basis for my approach to fostering a rich and meaningful learning environment. These pillars are rooted in the belief that education is a collaborative endeavor, that addressing individual student needs is paramount, and that equipping students with valuable tools for lifelong learning is essential.First and foremost, I view education as a collaborative endeavor between the teacher and the students. I believe that the classroom should be a space where ideas are shared, questions are encouraged, and knowledge is co-constructed. By fostering an inclusive and participatory learning environment, I aim to empower students to actively engage with the subject matter, take ownership of their learning journey, and develop critical thinking skills. Through meaningful discussions, group projects, and interactive activities, I strive to create a dynamic classroom atmosphere that values diverse perspectives and encourages students to learn from one another.Secondly, I strongly believe in the importance of addressing individual student needs. Each student possesses a unique set of strengths, challenges, and learning styles. Recognizing these differences, I aim to create a student-centered learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of my students. By employing varied instructional strategies, differentiated assessments, and personalized support, I strive to create opportunities for every student to succeed and reach their full potential. I am committed to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom culture where students feel seen, heard, and valued, ensuring that their individual voices and experiences are acknowledged and integrated into the learning process.Lastly, I am dedicated to equipping students with the necessary tools for lifelong learning. In today's rapidly changing world, it is crucial for students to develop the skills and attitudes that will enable them to adapt, learn, and thrive beyond the classroom. I endeavor to cultivate a love for learning and a growth mindset in my students, emphasizing the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Furthermore, I aim to instill in my students a sense of intellectual curiosity, a passion for lifelong learning, and an understanding of how to access and evaluate information in an increasingly complex digital landscape. By providing them with the necessary tools, resources, and guidance, I aspire to empower my students to become self-directed learners who can navigate the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. In conclusion, my teaching philosophy revolves around three main pillars: education as a collaborative endeavor, addressing individual student needs, and providing useful tools for lifelong learning. By embracing these principles, I am committed to creating a vibrant and inclusive learning environment where students actively participate in their education, their individuality is valued and supported, and they are equipped with the skills and mindset required for lifelong learning and success.

I attained my degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at Missouri State University, where I graduated in December of 2014. Along with this degree, I acquired minors in Chemistry and Business. I am currently enrolled at the University of Missouri-Kansas City as a dental student. I will be graduating with my Doctor of Dental Surgery in May of 2019. While attending Missouri State, I worked in our tutoring center as a science tutor for several years. The majority of students that came for assistance were working with general chemistry. I frequently helped with other courses, such as Anatomy and Physiology, Organic Chemistry, Biology, and Genetics. I am also qualified to tutor other science courses such as Biochemistry, Cell Biology, and Molecular Biology. I was also in a fraternity at Missouri State, where I would frequently help younger members with their classes. I would do a lot of paper editing, and I have a very keen eye for grammar and sentence structure. I also have experience with math tutoring and am capable of tutoring all math courses up to Algebra. I have assisted a few of my cousins who are in middle and high school, in addition to assisting some of my friends in preparation for the GRE, particularly with Quantitative Reasoning. My favorite subjects to tutor are Anatomy/Physiology and math. Anatomy and Physiology are fun to tutor because there is a lot of logic involved with them and by ensuring the understanding of the basic concepts with these courses, you can logically work through any complex question presented to you. These classes also get you to think deeper than a surface level or just the memorization of facts, which I believe is what learning actually is. Math is also one of my favorite classes to tutor because I have a very solid understanding of it. Similar to Anatomy and Physiology, math uses a lot of logic, which allows you to understand and learn concepts that will stick with you rather than learning them for a test and then discarding this information.I would like to describe my teaching philosophy as a means of challenging students. It is essential to initially evaluate what information the student knows and what they are struggling with. This enables me to encourage the student and compliment them on what they know, while still targeting the other areas they are not as comfortable with at the same time. Once I know the concepts a student is comfortable with, I can expand from these so students can understand more complex concepts holistically rather than as different segments. I like to challenge students by questioning them as we work through a problem. By challenging students to work through a problem based on their knowledge, it allows them to see possible flaws with their logic so they will not make the same mistake in the future. This also enhances their understanding of a concept because they are seeing where the mistake was rather than me simply pointing it out to them.Outside of academia, I am interested in a variety of things. As I briefly mentioned, I was in a fraternity at Missouri State. I enjoy being very social and networking with a lot of people. I was also in an organization called University Ambassadors in college. With this organization, I served as the public relations team for the university by coordinating and giving tours to prospective students and their families. I am also interested in sports. In high school, I played basketball, baseball, and soccer. I have continued to play sports at a recreational level throughout my college career at Missouri State and University of Missouri-Kansas City. I enjoy going to family functions and embracing those who are close to me.

I have a Masters of Science in Finance and a Bachelors of Administration in Business Management and Accounting all from Sam Houston State University.I have taught and tutored students ranging from elementary to secondary and post secondary education. Having been a student I learned to appreciate the benefits that having a one on one tutor brings. As a result I love being able to pass my knowledge and experience on to others and providing the same personal attention that benefited me greatly. My favorite subjects to teach are English and anything that has to do with reading and reading comprehension. In addition, because of my educational background and job experience I enjoying subjects associated with accounting, finance and business including business writing.I prefer to read a book versus watch tv (P.D. James, John Grishom, Patricia Cornwell, Greg Iles). When tutoring I like to have fun. Sessions should be a good mix of seriousness to accomplish set goals as well as enjoyable to keep students interested and at ease.

I am really excited to be given the opportunity to tutor students. It was my first exposure to education (from the educators side) back when I was in college, working with students at a local high school. First with them, and also my friends, I noticed that I really enjoyed helping people understand something they were struggling with. Thats why I hope to tutor as many students as I can handle. The thing I enjoy most about teaching is the opportunity to help students learn. I enjoy knowledge, both the receiving and the giving thereof, and Im looking forward to being able to help your student (or you yourself) grow in the field you are currently grappling with. I have been fortunate to do well in my own academic pursuits: earning a Bachelor's in International Affairs & History from Georegetown University and a Master's in Education from Valparaiso University. I have taught for four years in a few different departments, but mostly in the social studies. I offer tutoring in the social studies, mathematics, and Spanish as well as test prep for the SAT & GRE, both of which I have taken. I hope that we can move you forward in your academic endeavors. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, video games and aikido.

I believe in the potential of every student to be successful if they are provided with the spark and passion of a good teacher. I am a retired Professor of Economics from Western Illinois University. I have a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. I currently tutor student-athletes at the University of Minnesota in Economics and Statistics. However, I am passionate about helping younger students in Middle School and High School excel in Math. It is wonderful to see those "Ah..hah" moments when students get it. So I am very interested in assignments involving Algebra, high school Stats, etc. People tell me that I am patient, caring, and explain concepts well. I hope to demonstrate that consistently in my tutoring sessions.

In my career as a resource room teacher I have created a warm, positive environment in my classroom where my students feel welcomed and are encouraged to learn new things. The best reward as a teacher is seeing the difference you can make in the life of a student who has special learning needs. When you can make learning new concepts a fun and attainable goal for your students, that is the best feeling! My biggest success with my group of students over the last few years has been in the area of language arts. Through my training in Wilson Just Words and Fundations, I have taught non-readers how to use word attack skills, and multi-sensory tools in order to read and write. Watching the progress of my students in this area has been the most amazing experience!
