I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

My name is Noah, and I am a passionate, experienced educator who has tutored and taught across a variety of settings over the past 5 years. From teaching US History at a public school in Boston to English as a foreign language at a university in Colombia, I have worked with virtually every age group, spanning a wide range of subject matter. During that time, I have embraced a student-centered approach to teaching that prioritizes asking my students key questions that allow me to make my classes as exciting as possible. Questions like: "What do you want to learn? How do you learn best?" Based on their answers, I make sure to incorporate their interests and preferences into whatever it is we do.

As a student, I was always fascinated by the humanities, as well as learning a second language. I am a recent Harvard graduate, earning my Master's in Secondary Education, and received my undergraduate degree from Tufts University in Political Science and Education. As a young educator, I am also well aware of the challenges associated with being a learner in today's world, from the distractions of TikTok to the overwhelming setup of Google Classroom. I hope to use that knowledge to help my students grow and succeed through our tutoring sessions, in which we will develop relevant knowledge and study habits while participating as equal partners in this exciting process of learning.

Hobbies

Outside of the classroom, I am a comic book nerd, movie-lover, and sports super-fan (go Eagles!). This past year, I also ran a Magic: the Gathering and Pokemon club for my high school students. I love the outdoors and find myself running and hiking almost every weekend. In my downtime, I research future travel destinations and love to pretend-plan dream vacations. Travel is among the most important things in my life, as I spent last year living in Colombia, and traveling to other parts of South America, to countries such as Chile and Argentina. The more boring side of my personality consists of reading political books, listening to history podcasts, and completing crossword puzzles on a daily basis. Boring to most people, that is– but not me.
