Certified Tutor
I'm Amelia! I am a mathematics major at Georgia institute of Technology. I currently conduct research in mathematical physics under the topic of spectral theory which is a branch of advanced linear algebra. Part of my work is studying linear operators, and their spectra, given by eigenvalues and eigenvectors (elements you will be very familiar with after taking my lessons in linear algebra) which in my research represent possible energy levels in a quantum system. This gives me an edge in teaching linear algebra as well as other math courses in a way that has both depth and motivation. The most enjoyable part of my project has been presenting my work at a conference as I love teaching and hope to teach as a professor for my career.
I have years of experience tutoring math and english to elementary, middle, high-school, and college students. I work with the student to create a lesson plan that improves not just performance in school but true understanding. My process includes: creating a semester plan, producing practice problems, and giving progress checks. I will give the student homework in the following structure: a few problems following each session that are guided and meant to walk the student through steps of a problem to solidify understanding.
