Amanda: Washtenaw County tutor
Certified Tutor
With a BA in Human Development from Eckerd College and prior certification in Social Sciences (grades 6 to 12), I bring a dynamic and student-centered approach to K to 12 tutoring. I have taught and tutored a wide range of subjects including Civics, AP Psychology, Sociology, U.S. and World History, Government, English Language Arts, and Reading. I also support students with writing, essay editing, creative writing, and journalism.
As a former reading interventionist and experienced writing coach, I specialize in helping struggling or reluctant learners build confidence through targeted, individualized strategies. My sessions are strength-based and engaging, often connecting academic content to real-world examples that deepen understanding.
I also tutor elementary students in reading, math, science, and phonics, adapting my instruction to meet each child's unique needs and learning style. Whether I am helping a middle schooler strengthen fluency or guiding a high school student through analytical writing, I bring patience, insight, and a love of learning to every session.
