My interest in English Language Arts goes back to high school, when my English teacher, Mrs. Mohler, said I possessed a gift for essay writing and strength in my ability to analyze literature. When I started at the University of Mississippi, I was a Political Science major and an English minor. It did not take long to realize I enjoyed my English courses much more than my Political Science courses. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in English without declaring it my major (I would stay an extra year to earn my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, finishing with a double major). After working for a few years, I started graduate school and earned a Master of Arts in English at Arkansas State University. I am at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, completing an associate degree in Cybersecurity and Computer Networking.
I have experience tutoring students in English Language Arts and Cybersecurity. I have taught grammar, composition writing, rhetorical essays, critical analysis, literature, and English as a Second Language. I have experience doing these lessons in a full classroom, in small groups, and in one-on-one tutoring sessions. The courses I have taught are Beginning English, Intermediate English, English Composition I, English Composition II, World Literature I, and American Literature I.
