I have mentored many students throughout my career, and I have also benefited from great mentors myself. I believe that sharing knowledge with the next generation is essential, as those who came before me took the time to teach and guide me. Tutoring allows me to continue this cycle of learning and growth, helping students gain confidence and succeed in their own journeys.
I have experience teaching a class of middle school-aged students, which gave me insight into how to engage young learners and adapt my teaching style to different needs. After working with the class, I continued tutoring many of the students privately, helping them develop a deeper understanding of their subjects and build their confidence. These experiences reinforced my passion for teaching and the importance of individualized instruction.
I love seeing students experience breakthroughs in their learningit's like unlocking a new level of thinking. Watching them grasp a concept that once seemed difficult is incredibly rewarding. It not only boosts their confidence but also reinforces the idea that with the right approach and mindset, they can overcome any academic challenge.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois - Chicago in 2017. My coursework taught me the importance of preparation, as it is the key to success. Good preparation is often the difference between passing and failing a test, and I apply this principle when working with students.
I tutor all levels of mathematics up to integral calculus. Mathematics has always been a subject I enjoy teaching because it offers a clear and structured way to solve problems. I find it rewarding to help students see the logic behind each problem and watch them develop a love for the subject.
I have helped students prepare for standardized tests such as the ACT, SAT, and Chicago's selective enrollment plan. My approach is to focus on building students' confidence, helping them understand key concepts, and teaching test-taking strategies that make the process more manageable.
I try to meet students where they're at. Not everyone learns at the same pace, but I believe that everyone can learn with enough patience and good, fundamental instruction. My goal is to create an environment where students feel supported and motivated to reach their full potential.
To help students grasp difficult concepts, I use real-world relatable examples. I believe that connecting abstract ideas to everyday life helps students understand and retain the material. It also keeps the learning process engaging and relevant.
I use visual aids, pop culture references, and mnemonic devices to cater to different learning styles. Whether a student learns best through visuals, sounds, or hands-on experiences, I make sure to incorporate strategies that suit their needs and help them thrive.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy running, kayaking, photography, and 3D modeling and printing. These hobbies keep me grounded and give me a creative outlet that informs my approach to problem-solving and teaching.
