Certified Tutor

I have a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature and a Master in Linguistics from Universidad de Los Andes in Venezuela. Also, I have a Masters and a PhD in Political Sciences from Georgia State University. I have been a University Professor for 30 years, working with young adult and adult learners. I have put a lot of effort into creating a classroom environment that addresses students' needs and makes them feel safe and respected as human beings and as learners. Regardless of the topic I have taught throughout my professional years, be it foreign languages or human rights, I have emphasized our common humanity as the basis for respect and understanding of our differences.
I believe that education should be an opportunity to transform our views about ourselves and the world arounds us. From my personal transformational journey, I have found that an authentic educational experience for those involved in the teaching-learning process is one that allows us to listen, evaluate, and change or transform our beliefs about any topic in a way that our lives are never the same. The ideal environment for this to happen is one of respect for diversity of background, experience, and values.
