Certified Tutor
I am a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany having received a B.A. in Education. My majors were English, Mathematics with minors in Art History and Anthropology. I also hold a MPA in Education Public Policy. In my career, I have been a classroom teacher, substitute teacher, and tutor. As a tutor, I have successfully instructed more than 300 students in English Language Arts, Mathematics, AP American and European History. Currently, I am a five-star tutor with Varsity Tutors.
My credentials include certificates in Orton Gillingham, Science of Reading, as well as having a certificate in tutoring by the National
Association of Tutoring. My extended training is in literacy with particular focus on teaching students who are special needs: dyslexic, ADHD, autistic, as well as neurotypical students who are seeking advanced placement.
My literacy credentials include a certificate in adult learning reading and comprehension. To help struggling students: I focus on understanding their specific challenges, providing tailored support, and building a positive learning environment. This involves identifying areas where the student needs help, offering personalized instruction, as well as creating a safe space for them to ask questions and make mistakes.
By providing personalized support, positive reinforcement, and skill development, tutoring empowers students to overcome academic challenges, develop resilience, and cultivate the confidence they need to succeed in school and beyond.
