Certified Tutor

I am an educator who strives to maximize the value of education. If a student invests their time, resources, and efforts to seek out tutoring, there should be some value in the time that was spent with me.
I taught English at all high school grade levels in an art magnet public high school in Baltimore for four years. Before that, I taught English to 6th graders at a Baltimore City middle school.
I also served as an Americorps member in a teacher assistant/student mentor role with City Year at Miami Jackson Senior High. During the service term, I worked alongside a teacher to teach Algebra I to predominantly Spanish-speaking ESOL 9th graders.

For most of my career, I taught English at secondary grade levels (6-12), utilizing my strong background knowledge from my bachelor's degree in English literature from Vanderbilt University. I have made efforts to expand my teaching skills and knowledge with a special education endorsement in my master's degree in secondary education from Johns Hopkins University.
I offer tutoring support with general ELA courses, reading literacy, college essays, poetry, fiction, screenwriting, essay writing, and studying for the SAT.
Tutoring is a collaborative process, so I love to provide students with choices in their own learning. This allows students to take ownership of their own education and pursue curiosity-driven learning.
In my spare time, I love to pursue my own curiosities by watching video essays and documentaries and discovering new music from all over the world.
