Certified Tutor

I am a private tutor who specializes in ESOL/ELL, Language Arts, Humanities, Academic/Scholarly Writing, Business Communications, and Literary Arts, serving the New York metropolitan area, Buenos Aires, and online. I have worked with New York Times best-selling authors, private school students, college students, graduate students, professional scholars, entrepreneurs, corporate professionals, and independently published writers, to name a few. I am adept at personalized pronunciation practice and error correction for English language learners, as well as in-depth drafting and line-by-line revision for students of academic writing and business communications.

Most recently, I earned my Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) from Cambridge (Pass B). Additionally, I hold a Master's of Fine Arts degree from Brown University (Literary Arts, 2011), and a Bachelor's of Arts degree in English Literature and Continental Philosophy from the University of Denver (Magna Cum Laude, 2007).

My own writing has appeared in arts magazines, literary journals, scholarly journals, local newspapers, textbooks, syndicated blogs, and literary anthologies, among others.

My first priority as a tutor is to attune my strategies to the client's purposes and personal interests. As a lifelong lover of language, I believe it is crucial to be able to express one's original ideas clearly and concisely. Most of all, I am drawn to the work of tutoring because I find it improves and enriches me as a writer as well.

Originally born in Denver, Colorado, I also spent much of my upbringing in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, and am currently based in NYC. My favorite authors are Julio Cortazar, Gertrude Stein, Virginia Woolf, and Muriel Spark.
