Certified Tutor

I am a big advocate in the idea that the first step to succeeding in many avenues in life is showing up with a positive attitude and being excited to learn. Being able to provide students with the tools for academic success is something I deeply love because I believe success in the classroom spills over to better outcomes in the real world like increased confidence and self-esteem. I have worked with students of all ages from elementary school to college students in a variety of subjects including standardized test prep like the ACT/SAT/PSAT, college level chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and biology. I also have experience with high school at the AP level in Calculus, Biology, and Chemistry. I graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry and now work at MIT in the biology department with a focus in genomics. I really love teaching all types of chemistry and biology as that was my degree in college, but I also love test prep because I know how overwhelming those exams can feel and I want to empower students with the keys to success. My teaching philosophy is I like to establish a good rapport with students and ensure that they are having a fun learning process. This manifest in the form of banter or jokes embedded so that the tutoring feels more interactive rather than someone talking at you. I like tutoring to be a setting where students can feel comfortable asking questions so any knowledge gaps can be filled. I know the importance of studying hard, but also maintaining a healthy balance of fun to prevent burnout and I keep that in mind when tutoring to ensure that student's mental health is protected. A fun fact about myself is I love arts and crafts and have recently started designing my own clothing for fun! Looking forward to meeting you all!
