I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

I am someone who has a strong desire to help. For many years, I didn't know what field I wanted to go in, the only thing I knew I wanted to do was work in a job where I could help others. I worked for the same Spanish Professor for 2 years at Valdosta State University, as well as took a few of his classes. He was and still is one of my biggest inspirations. As I saw him teach and worked under him as a Supplemental Instructor and then a Personal Tutor for his students taking Spanish 2001 and 2002, I learned how to implement my heart's desire to help others. I watched and learn from a man with a skill, almost an art, of teaching students in a way where they could take what they learned beyond the classroom. I am now able to provide practical practices to students that allow them to retain the Spanish that they are learning in their classes. I have learned that this takes great discipline but also great patience and compassion. I also think building a personal yet professional relationship is vital to learning. This encourages and motivates students to discipline themselves to learn the material if they have respect for those who are teaching them. I hope for these things as I am given the potential opportunity to be a Spanish Tutor with Varsity Tutors. I earned a BA degree at Valdosta State Univerity in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Spanish and Sociology. I love traveling and learning about new cultures and lived in Bogota, Colombia this past year working with college students at the National University. I am out outgoing and energetic and love spending time with my friends and laughing.
