Certified Tutor

I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in German with High Honors and a minor in Environmental Science. While I am qualified to tutor students in a variety of subjects, I am most enthusiastic about sharing my knowledge of the German language and culture. I tutor students at different levels in the complexities of German grammar, while supporting their learning efforts through language immersion. I have taken over a dozen college-level German courses, and I am very familiar with AP curriculum exercises and activities. I have excellent research skills, and because of that I have learned how to write and read academic German.

Because I have taken German classes with both non-native and heritage speakers, I have an understanding of the different ways that Germans and non-Germans learn and think about the language. I also have experience observing various tutoring styles. As a result, I can flexibly tailor my teaching approach based on the needs of individual students. I am experienced in using discussion, grammar exercises, writing projects, and other language activities. I am an advocate of full-immersion learning based on exposure to texts and dialogues in the target language.

In addition to German, I enjoy teaching math, environmental science, and environmental studies. In these topic areas I am capable of giving clear explanations of complex concepts in simple language. Regardless of the topic, my guiding goal is to help students identify and attain their academic aspirations.


In my free time, I love to hike and travel and enjoy being outdoors in nature, taking in the beautiful scenery of parks and woods. I enjoy reading German and English books. I like classical music and enjoy both listening to it and playing the piano and cello. I am also passionate about films in both German and English.
