Hello! I am a student at the University of Virginia on the pre-health track with an intended major in Global Health Studies and a possible minor in Spanish. I was once a student through Varsity Tutors from elementary to high school and for this reason, recognize how influential the tutor-student interaction was on helping me as a student and for also discovering myself. Because of my experiences, I have taken up several tutoring/mentoring positions in college and in high school and feel that I can connect to the student because I know precisely what it feels like to be in that position. In a way, I see the old version of myself when working with other students, which helps me resonate and collaborate with them. My favorite subjects to teach are math and Spanish. Fun fact: I used to struggle with math as a younger kid! However, when my first tutor from Varsity Tutors was patient with me and made the experience less overwhelming, it became one of my favorite subjects and I can truly attribute my tutoring experiences to how I was able to take college level and advanced math courses very early on in high school. Besides that, I have tutored Algebra to multiple students and have been amazed at how successful they have become from putting the time and effort into our sessions. I also enjoy speaking and teaching Spanish, as the language and culture has always been a passion of mine and has become apart of my life. Therefore, I would love to share that passion with other students and for them to see Spanish as more than just another class to take in high school. Above all, I am open to any of the subjects and teaching all age groups (I have tutored students from elementary school to adults) that I have listed because I want to give back to Varsity Tutors for getting me where I am today but also see the same success for future students. :) Also, I am still in college so I can always be a mentor on the side for the college application process and overall life as a student in college!
