I am a graduate of the University of Florida. I received my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education with an additional focus on Special Education. I have been trained in the Orton-Gillingham Approach to teaching language development skills, primarily for students with Dyslexia. I have taught preschool, kindergarten, and second grade. I have also worked on the administrative team at a child development center, written curriculum for a kindergarten readiness program, and taught at a school specifically for students with Dyslexia. I am passionate about teaching students of all ages who struggle with the development or maintenance of language skills such as reading, writing, spelling, decoding, comprehension, fluency, grammar, and phonemic awareness. I believe all students can learn successfully; some students just need assistance to find the way they learn best. Giving students tools and strategies for learning critical language skills allows them to be independent, confident, and successful. There is nothing more thrilling than watching a student grow from someone who constantly struggled to learn into someone who loves to read and is successful in doing it. Additionally, I enjoy helping children experience the excitement of learning how to read for the first time.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, sewing, and gardening. I especially enjoy gardening with succulents. Watching the growth that can come just from a leaf that has fallen off of a plant is simply amazing.
