I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Dylan: South Lebanon tutor

Certified Tutor

I attended Washington University in St. Louis for my undergraduate studies, earning a dual degree in Education and Spanish. My interdisciplinary course load also included several history, math, psychology, art, business, and literature classes. Professionally, I possess six years of truly diverse work and life experience. Since graduating from Wash U in 2014, I have helped open a mixed-income school in Missouri, worked for a leading research and advisory company in Washington DC, taught high school Spanish and math in Switzerland, lived in South America and Europe, and visited more than 50 countries all in pursuit of being the best global citizen and change agent I can be.

As a tutor, I particularly enjoy teaching math. A true logician and problem solver, I am known among friends for my love of puzzles, riddles, word problems, and mathematical challenges. I have a deep knowledge of pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and pre-calculus and a passion for teaching it. I also enjoy tutoring Spanish. While foundational vocab and grammar are important, I emphasize speaking and encourage my students to take risks. I believe embracing discomfort is critical to learning a language. Spanish has helped me to travel and live in different communities throughout the world. I strive to kindle a similar appreciation and passion for language in my students.

Whether I'm working as a tutor, teacher, academic coach, post-secondary counselor, or career mentor, I enjoy building relationships and helping others find success. I believe in an individualized approach and help my tutees find strategies and solutions that work for them. By identifying strengths and coaching self-advocacy, I encourage my students to take ownership over their learning and develop strong time management and prioritization skills that will serve them in the future.

I am an avid soccer player. In fact, when I was an infant, I learned to walk by kicking a ball in the garage. Yet my affinity for sports is not limited to just soccer. From basketball to football to kickball to frisbee, I love any excuse to spend time outside. Originally from Durango, Colorado, I grew up exploring the mountains on foot, bike, and skis. When I'm not on an outdoor adventure, I enjoy cooking and playing board games. I'm also teaching myself how to play the acoustic guitar.
