I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Hi! My name is Denise and I am a second-year undergraduate student at Cornell University. I have four years of tutoring experience and have helped students in subjects ranging from the ACT/SAT to various AP classes. I have found that my methods of teaching include not only helping students master the material that is tested on these exams themselves, but also how to discover and master some of the smaller tricks that these standardized tests have in store. I love tutoring students and helping them reach their goals because I know that every student is more than capable of excelling at these tests. I also know from personal experience how influential a tutor can be when studying and practicing for these exams, and I would not have gotten the scores that I did without their help. Tutoring is something that I enjoy because it allows me to pay forward the help that I received when I was going through the testing process and I would love to pass that information and wisdom down to other students.

Throughout both middle school and high school, I attended schools that specialized in math and science and I was always placed in the highest math classes that were offered. When I took the ACT I scored a 35 in the Math section, and when I took the SAT I scored a 790 in the Math section. I also took the SAT Mathematics II Subject test and scored a perfect 800. As a student tutor, I coached students into not only learning how to mathematically solve each question but also how to identify some quick tricks to apply to the math questions should time be running out. These tricks resonated very well with my students and helped to improve their scores.

I attended a STEM academy, so I have been around science for all of my education. On the ACT I scored a 34 on the Science section of the exam and many of the students that I tutored in the past were able to learn well and saw their scores improve by up to 4 points.

When I took the ACT myself, I scored a 36 in both the English and the Reading portions of the exam. As a student tutor, I helped students learn the techniques that helped me to master the material tested on the exam, and saw my students' scores improve by up to 8 points.

If you are looking to improve your scores or need any help in mastering the tips of these exams, feel free to contact me. I would love to help you reach your goals and reach your full potential!
