Meagan: Quebec City tutor
Certified Tutor
Hello! My name is Meagan J. I am a 21 year old married college student. (I have completed all academic coursework and will student teach in the Fall). My degree is an elementary and special education B.A. I am background checked nationally by the Utah State Board of Education and state-level by Frisco ISD. I have passed the Praxis II Elementary Education Multiple Subjects licensure exam with flying colors. The exam covers content knowledge in math, reading/ela, social studies, and science for early childhood through 6th grade. I will not receive my teaching license until I finish student teaching in the Fall, however the academic criteria are met. I am currently completing classroom observation hours within Frisco ISD. I am able to lesson plan, differentiate curriculum based on individual academic ability, and make tutoring a fun experience for your child!
I love making academic games like vocabulary jeopardy or math board games. I aim to get to know your child's interests and incorporate those into their learning to engage them. I understand that a lot of students find tutoring and studying boring, but I want to change that. If a particular teaching strategy is not working, then I will switch up my method until we find something that works for your child. Some children love being active and creative while they learn, some learn cooperatively in groups, and others prefer quiet and routine individual lessons. My number one goal is your child's academic success.
I have a flexible schedule and can even tutor on weekends. I welcome and encourage parents to interview me either in person or on the phone. I can offer a discounted first session to see if we will be a good match. I can also provide sample lesson plans. Please understand I do not pick up/drop off or otherwise drive your children to any destination. I look forward to meeting you!
I can create math games and include manipulatives (like place value cubes) in lessons! I create assessments to monitor student's progress and identify strengths and weaknesses they have within grade-level math curriculum and state standards.
Hands-on lab experiments or cross-curriculum ELA instruction that improves academic vocabulary and science content knowledge? I alter lesson plans according to individual learning styles of students.
Guided reading groups, individual comprehension questions, book summary activities, vocabulary journals, interest inventories, and more!
I have experience with autistic students and students with ADD/ADHD. I can create a visual schedule to incorporate routine and make tutoring an active game to assist students with lots of energy to exert it but learn at the same time.
