I am a former high school mathematics and chemistry teacher. I have earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Psychology (UW-Milwaukee), a Master of Education in Secondary Education (Marquette University), and a Master of Science in Bioethics (Columbia University in the City of New York). This fall, I will begin pursuing a Doctor of Medicine at UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health.
While tutoring, I enjoy helping my students develop a comprehensive picture of the subjects they are learning to help them succeed. To do so, I strive to teach my students in a step-by-step manner and break down the jargon frequently used in textbooks and word problems. I primarily teach through example and seek to identify my students' strengths and weaknesses in their approaches and thinking. When I tutor students in writing, I use the skills I developed as a managing editor of an academic journal to offer constructive criticism of my students' writing. Furthermore, I use evidence-based educational tools to assist my students' recall of information in subjects that require memorization.
When considering coursework, I enjoy tutoring high school mathematics, including Algebra I, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus; natural sciences, such as Chemistry and Biology; Psychology; and Writing. I am also comfortable tutoring these subjects at the university level. As many students find natural science and writing classes challenging, I enjoy having the opportunity to share my skills to help my students succeed in these areas. I also love how I can use my experiences in research and healthcare to show how a concept relates to intriguing areas beyond the classroom.
As a lifelong learner, I am eager to share with you my struggles and successes in academia and offer insight into our education system at various levels. I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your full potential!
