Certified Tutor

I received my B.A. in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis and my M.S. in Educational Studies from Johns Hopkins University. I have tutored and substituted in Milwaukee, WI; St. Louis, MO; and Baltimore, MD. The tutoring I did was primarily in math and science, including: elementary and middle school math, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, AP Calculus AB, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. I also taught high school Biology, Algebra I, and Geometry in Baltimore for three years. I am now teaching 7th grade math and science in Cleveland, OH. Though my degree is in Biology, I have a tremendous passion for helping students feel comfortable with and confident about their ability to succeed in their math classes. I have found that many students struggle to convert the HOW to solve a problem into an understanding of WHY it works. Bridging that gap is my main focus in teaching and tutoring. Additionally, I have a tremendous passion for learning new information and seeing things from a variety of perspectives, which I hope to impart to my students as we learn through the material. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to music, playing musical instruments, reading, and enjoying the outdoors.
