I am a junior undergraduate in the Materials Science and Engineering department at the University of Washington Seattle, specializing in Nanoscience and Molecular Engineering.
My goal is to help students reach the point where they won't just be able to ace exams, but will in fact be able to teach material back to me, since that is the sign of true understanding.
When I see someone's face light up when a complicated set of ideas is distilled into a viscerally understandable (and exciting!) bite-sized concept, I get a sense of fulfillment like nothing else. Learning math or science is all about that one moment where everything "clicks" into place, and when it happens, you notice. That feeling is what drives my love for mathematics, science, and other related disciplines, whether I am experiencing that "click", or especially when I help others reach that point.
