My philosophy of education is that all students are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. This environment focuses on allowing students to experience school as life and not on school being a sole predecessor to a future successful life. It is my desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential while being invested in the successes and experiences of the community members. I will provide an inspiring, reflective and safe environment where students are invited to share their ideas and take risks.
I believe that there are five essential elements that are conducive to learning. First, the teacher acts as a guide, one who models teaching and promotes learning as independent and cooperative scholars. Next, students must have access to hands-on activities that touch upon as many learning modes as possible. Then, students should be able to have choices and let their curiosity direct their learning. The practice of skills needs to occur in a protected and thoughtful environment. Finally, partnership with families is key and together creates and contributes to the students' learning experiences.
It is my goal to assist my students to express themselves and accept themselves for who they are, as well help them to embrace the differences of others.
