Certified Tutor

I am a current third-year student at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. I am a Neuroscience major and Spanish minor, and I plan on attending medical school upon graduation. Although medicine is my passion, teaching has been something I have had exposure in various capacities throughout my academic career. I have used teaching as a tool to better both myself and others. As a tutor for over seven years, intermittently, I have been able to help others further their academic prospects, and my teachers and peer-mentors, over time, and allowed me to academically prosper.

I find tutoring to be a very important, crucial element when exposing someone to material they don't fully understandthis can be seen in individuals of all levels of academic exposure, intelligence, background, etc. I have found that at one time or another, everyone needs help. Therefore, there are many, many different types of learners and thus many teaching styles that come along with such diversity. Over the years, I have gained experience in being able to tailor my tutoring style to different styles of learning.

I have also been able to mentor people of all ages, from 4 to 85, through teaching tennis for over four years. Like tutoring, instructing someone in a sport, albeit not academic, requires the same skills and patience, as well as a plasticity in teaching strategies used. Through trial and error, I have learned how to best reach children (and adults) of various age groups when teaching and tutoring.
