Aside from one's family and friends, it's hard to conceive of people more important than one's teachers. I reflect fondly on the instructors who have most inspired me. They have, in turn, moved me to share what I know with others.

Teaching is a gift to both tutor and student. Each grows from their shared experience. It is why I embrace the chance to pass along what I know those who want to learn.

I found my occupational passion in writing. I have been a civil trial lawyer for 41 years. Though being in the courtroom is an experience like few others, writing has been the part of the practice I have most enjoyed. Captivated by writing, I set out to write and publish two nonfiction books unrelated to the law. I am currently working on a third.

The essence of human relationships lies in communication. My belief in the written word's importance keeps me engaged with language and drives my wish to share my knowledge and interest. This outlook has led me to teach writing courses and to tutor in an adult literacy program.

In addition to tutoring for those wanting to improve their writing, I also maintain a keen interest in the law. Having taught courses in legal studies, I embrace sharing my knowledge and experience in a tutorial setting.

My teaching style is to gauge the means by which the student is most able to learn. I prefer to tailor my sessions by discovering the means by which the student is likely to find the greatest success. We then embark on the lessons accordingly.

My hope is this statement provides some insight into what motivates me and how I can serve students interested in learning what I offer.
