Michaela: Glendale tutor
Certified Tutor
I recently finished my two-year Peace Corps service as a Health Promoter in the Dominican Republic, and I am currently applying for medical school and hoping to start in Fall, 2018. Prior to Peace Corps, I spent a year as an Out-of-School Time Data Coordinator with PhillyBOOST, an initiative to improve after school programs across Philadelphia.
I received my BA at the University of Chicago as a Biology major, but I have taken a number of Spanish language, history and culture courses as well as micro/macroeconomics and other social sciences courses.
I am passionate about public health and medicine, and in my future work I hope to improve health disparities and increase access to health services in disadvantaged communities. I also believe in continual learning and enjoy teaching and mentoring. With a strong Spanish language background as well as knowledge of the basic biological sciences, I can provide individualized tutoring to those looking to improve or continue their understanding of these subject areas. I am flexible, appreciate open communication and feedback, and work well with individuals from a range of ages and backgrounds.
