All of my working life has involved teaching young people, from my very first job with Outward Bound teaching wilderness survival skills, to middle school, high school and college faculty positions. Along the way I have also worked in fundraising for educational institutions, allowing me to engage with students from diverse backgrounds and strong motivations for success.

I received a BFA from Syracuse University, an MBA from New York University and spent 6 months in Florence, Italy on sabbatical. For the last five years I have been teaching English language skills to college age European, South American and Asian students - an eye-opening introduction to the global perspectives of young people.

I tutor English reading and writing for ESL, test prep and general school improvement. My teaching style begins with an agreement with my student regarding participation and commitment, a clear understanding of each students areas of strength and weakness and then the development of an organized process which with enable each to attain their goals. I believe that each student is unique, and therefore deserving of highly tailored a learning process. And, its got to be engaging and much more than what is found in a standard classroom!

I am also able to tutor AP Art History, and value the relevance and esthetic questions posed by this overlooked subject.

My interests outside of the classroom revolve around my recent return to Connecticut after 20+ years in South Florida and the re-acquaintance process I spend a lot of my time exploring locally, and am in New York City frequently.
