I was raised with the notion that learning a subject thoroughly is more important than grades. This has helped me see that attending school is not just another step that one must follow to get a good job. Attending school is an opportunity to learn and grow as an individual and as a member of society. As biomedical engineering student attending UT Dallas, I have seen first hand the impact of the difference between studying to learn and studying to pass a test. This is why I work closely with my students to help them get thorough grasp of the subject rather then simply to get a good grade.
