About me
I am a Linguistics Major on the Premed Track at Macaulay Honors College who has been studying Spanish for over 6 years.
In high school I was lucky enough to have teachers who were incredibly passionate about teaching Spanish, and as a true language nerd I would chat with my teachers in Spanish for at least an hour a day. As a result, my conversational skills became almost fluent and I was able to earn a 5 on my AP Spanish Language & Culture Exam, and I placed within the 98th Percentile on the National Spanish Exam (which also takes into account Puerto Rico!!). Quite frankly I was shocked; Spanish is a language that I purely enjoy speaking, and is a language I grew from the baby steps/roots of 'Hola' and 'Me llamo Priyanka'. After years of practice, I now chat with my high school teachers about everything from their grandchildren in Louisiana, to the latest movies they've seen.
I also feel that Spanish is an incredibly important language in the US. As a premed student, I volunteer in a children's hospital and come into contact with many Spanish-speaking patients. Being able to understand these patients' stories and help meet their needs gives me so much happinessso much so that I've taken up another position as a Spanish Language Ambassador where I am tasked with providing SpanishEnglish interpretation.

About my classes
As an avid language learner, I understand the process of learning a language from the very beginning. In fact, I'm self-taught in Japanese and, after 4 years, I have reached an intermediate level!
I believe the best way to learn a language is through constant exposure and spatial recognition, so depending on your level I will try to speak in as much Spanish as possible [but of course if you are uncomfortable, or I am explaining a grammar point I will mix in English to ensure understanding].
