My passion for teaching comes from my fascination and belief in each child's natural curiosity. My mission is to help children (and young adults) to see learning as an exciting and manageable challenge, and to help them realize how capable they are no matter how daunting (or boring) school may seem.

My teaching style has its roots in my Montessori background, which means that I allow the child to lead the way toward their own success with structure, guidance, and good examples. I specialize in reading, but am adept in assisting with writing, test taking, and public speaking as well. I am working toward becoming a Wilderness Therapist, where I will lead backpacking trips for at-risk teens. I would also like to further my academic pursuit of the English language, as writing has always been my passion. I have published poems in two books and several journals, and enjoy playing and teaching the violin.
