As a recent graduate, I understand the difficulties that classes may create for students. I earned my B.S. in Psychobiology from UCLA in 2016 with a minor in conservation ecology. As such, the subjects I look forward to most in tutoring are the life sciences, psychology, and test preparation.
When I'm an education volunteer at the La Brea Tar Pits, my favorite moments are when guests have the look of understanding in their eyes. Each person has their own way of wrapping their head around the Ice Age Extinction, and the "Aha!" comes from changing each interaction to fit them.
For each session, I strive to tailor lessons to fit the students. I focus on areas where there are problems and encourage them to ask questions even for small details they do not understand. My patience knows no bounds, and I never tire of explaining subjects that I am passionate about. I look forward to future sessions!

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Having a student provide their own summary of the lessons learned that day shows a great understanding. If you can teach me the material back correctly, then I trust that you have understood the material. I can also see which subjects that were struggled with when they talk about what they have learned.
