What is your teaching philosophy?
To help students learn and advance in a way that they can understand, with the specific learning style they enjoy.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Introduce myself and ask the student what they want to get out of this class they are needing to study for. Then, also give them some papers to provide them with some good note taking skills for better comprehension.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would provide fun and interesting ways of learning to keep the student involved.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would figure out where the disconnect is and try to fix it.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
We could sit down and review the reading page by page.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Hands on as well as not talking the student to boredom.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
By teaching the student proper study techniques, and showing the student that there are fun ways to study as well.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
Do things to make it more interesting to them so they can understand the subject better.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
By staying positive.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
By how the student learns, what the student is saying to me, and what I observe them doing.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
I adapt my teaching style to their learning needs.
