I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Why do I want to teach?
When I was young, I had a mini schoolhouse in my backyard with a sign on the front door that read, "Ms. Montag's Classroom." I spent hours in that schoolhouse teaching my imaginary class, outlining lesson plans, and disciplining the "students" when they would disrupt the lesson. Since I can remember, I have wanted to be a teacher. When I came to the conclusion around the age of six that I was not cut out to be a rock star, I chose teaching, but what I did not realize at that time was that teaching chose me as well.
Throughout my school years, like everyone else, I had teachers that brought out the best in me as a student and teachers who never made an effort to even know my name. Both had a significant impact on my developing reasons as to why I desire to become a teacher: I want to inspire people to reach their full potential. I believe in the best of everybody, and I believe that each person has his or her God-given talents that can be used in ways to glorify God or to waste. I think that too often people know what their talents are, or at least what they're "good" at, and never choose to use them. The greatest contributor to the immense successes of history is most certainly the human capacity to innovate and create those successes. I want to be able to help students discover their unique gifts and abilities and demonstrate to them what it is like to use those abilities to impact the world. One way I can do this will be through using my God-given gifts to influence the world through them. I want to encourage my students to never settle for anything less than their best. Motivation is key to the success of life's journey. I will commit to believing in every single student that walks through my classroom door. I want them to discover the amazing things they can do for their world, even at such a young age. God takes a small bit of potential and turns it into a grand potential, and my job will be to help students know and reach that potential.
