I will understand where each student struggles and try to make them comfortable with every question they encounter! I think a big problem that students have with teachers is that they teach for questions and not concepts. I will help students with hard concepts by relating real world or exaggerated examples, and I find that this really helps students.
I love tutoring all types of math as well as some sciences such as chemistry and physics. I have experience in all of these subjects for students from grades 7 to students in college.
I am majoring in computer science with minors in cognitive science, math, and music. While not tutoring, I often play the drums or read non-fiction. I also like to compose and listen to music.

What is your teaching philosophy?
To ensure that the student completely understands each question and why certain strategies work and why others do not.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Assess what he or she knows and then come up with a plan to help such as focusing on weak areas and reinforcing concepts.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I will teach them how to think and how to relate problems to the real world. That way, students will use strategies that they understand, and not one that a teacher just gave them and they use without understanding.
