Learning is the key to success. That is why I am passionate in helping students to enjoy the learning process. I am currently a student at Brigham Young University studying business, so I know how hard it can be to learn about a subject that is difficult, or from a teacher who does not connect well with their students. That is why I strive to teach my students by the principal I learned from Alfred Mercier "What we learn with pleasure we never forget". I learned this first hand as I lived in South America for two years. It was a lot easier to learn Spanish when I could find ways to make it enjoyable! Spanish is my favorite subject to teach because it is such a valuable tool to have in this day and age where people are coming together from all over the world. I also teach other subjects such as accounting, marketing, and algebra. I hope that I will be able to teach my students in a fun, exciting way so that they will be able to retain this valuable knowledge for years to come.

My interests include football, basketball, guitar, wakeboarding, scouting, and other outdoor activities.

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe that students learn more when they are having fun. In other words, when they enjoy what they are studying they perform at a higher level IN every subject that I teach, I try to make it engaging and interesting for my students in order to create a positive and motivating environment that is conducive to learning.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

The most important thing in the first lesson is to get to know the student. Everyone learns in different ways, so if the teacher understands how their students learn best, that teacher will be successful.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

When students enjoy the subject they are studying, they are automatically more willing to do more on their own. I plan on helping my students understand the application of the subject that they are studying so they will enjoy it more.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

When a student understands why a subject is important and how it will help them in the long run, they are more willing work longer and harder in order to learn the material. I will help my students by helping them understand the "why" behind each subject that I teach and I will also help them to create learning goals in order to help them stay on track.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Everyone learns in different ways. Some students are visual learners, others learn better through audio, while others learn better through reading. No matter what type of learner a student is, it is easier to understand a hard topic when it is applied to one’s self. I plan on relating difficult concepts to relatable, everyday experiences.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

It helps to break down individual words in a sentence.
