I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I went to the Ohio State University and earned my Bachelor's degree in marketing...which was wonderful...but after working a few years I kept thinking to myself, "Why am I not teaching math?" I would not say I am a great singer, or athlete, or chef, but I do have a great passion for math and teaching it to those who do not (which is most, right!?). I feel it is "my thing," and I have been told that I have a way of explaining it in a very clear, understandable, positive way.

I went back to school to earn my Masters degree in mathematics education with a 4.0 GPA and truly feel that I'm doing now what I was meant to do. Even as a child, my family tried to get me in all sorts of sports (which I enjoyed) but I would beg them to race me doing math problems and buy me more math books and computer games. I should've figured out sooner this was my obvious career!

I have been teaching and tutoring primarily Algebra the past 5 years at a college in Orlando (please feel free to look me up on RateMyProfessors.com) Before that I taught Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Geometry at a local high school.

It is my goal to provide encouraging, respectful, and successful tutoring to help you reach your own goals. I know that it can be tough, but also know that when you find that perfect career or take on and then pass a difficult course, that feeling is worth the time and work.

Outside of teaching, I have a fabulous husband, I always brag about him as the first in his family to go to college, let alone medical school. He has an incredible story. I also have a French bulldog named Walter that is without a doubt the most spoiled pup in all the land. I love Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, the occasional Netflix binge...kayaking, festivals, travel, bowling...we are always looking for something new to try or place to go. I do LOVE football, of course my Buckeyes. Being from Ohio I have to root for Lebron too! My fantasy football team name is WeaponsOfMathInstruction

Thank you for your time, I hope to meet and work with you soon!

What is your teaching philosophy?

If the teacher does not love the subject, then how will the student? I love math and always strive to explain it in a clear, relatable, step by step way. Maybe I won't get everyone to LOVE math, but as it becomes more understandable I hope to help my students love their grades!
