What is your teaching philosophy?
I work with my students to understand what motivates them to learn and adjust my teaching style accordingly.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would patiently work through the skill or concept with the student from different angles until we found an approach that worked for them.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would get to know the student and get a feel for their current level, the level they wish to reach, and the types of learning obstacles preventing them from reaching their target on their own.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
By working with the student to understand their own unique learning process, and by focusing on the reasons learning is important.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would help the student understand why learning is important for them on a personal level beyond just grades. I also offer encouragement and positive reinforcement, so that a little success encourages a student to work twice as hard.
