My philosophy is that the goal of tutoring is to bring the student to a firm understanding of the material. How to do this? Identify the areas that need to be clarified, establish an action plan, and work together to make it happen. I've tutored a number of students, establish a good collaboration with them, and we've made progress together. There's an art to finding new concepts. That's rewarding for me.

The tutor needs to be able to see the challenges from the perspective of the student. For each subject, each student may find different parts of the material challenging. The tutor must adapt to the student's needs, and establish a collaboration, to find out how best to bring the student to a better understanding of the material.

Each student has a different set of goals and challenges and a different life experience. From understanding where the student is coming from, I can better tailor my approach to the needs of each student.
