Certified Tutor

I received my education from the University of Florida, where I am currently an undergraduate student working on obtaining my bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering! Over the last few years, I have gained great experience in tutoring my peers in the areas of math and science. I love to focus on the details of a problem when teaching, so that my student will be able to fully comprehend any problem that rises before him or her!

I currently tutor all levels of Algebra, from Pre-Algebra to Algebra 3/4, multiple levels of Calculus, from Pre-Calculus to Calculus III, Chemistry, Engineering Statics, and Spanish. My favorite subjects to tutor, however, are Algebra II and Calculus III, because these are often the most challenging subjects in a student's journey to higher education! My teaching philosophy is centered around working hard while also enjoying a side of fun. Everything can be accomplished with this philosophy while studying! I love preparing students for the obstacles they might face while pursuing academic excellence. I will always make my utmost effort to make sure that my students understand the concepts they are learning at school. Some classes may be tough. However, with hard work anything can be accomplished. I look forward to being of service to you and to helping you understand all the concepts you may be having trouble with!

Outside of my academia I love to fly RC quadcopters, fold origami, draw, and paint! Oh, and I definitely love to build LEGOs!

What is your teaching philosophy?

With hard work and a side of fun, anything can be learned! :D

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would definitely introduce myself and say something funny so we can both be at ease, and then focus on the problems at hand! :D

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By teaching the adequate tools so he or she can solve problems easily!

How would you help a student stay motivated?

By providing fun examples and drawings!

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Take it slow and redo the problem from the beginning, or start with a fresh, easier problem! :D

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

By both reading the problem carefully to make sure we both understand it!

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

To start slowly with easy problems, then go ahead into harder problems!

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

Relate the problem to things they love in real life!

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

I would teach by example, and then I would let them solve a problem to see if they understood it. If not then, I would correct where correction would be needed! :D

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

By solving problems until she or he can solve them all!

How do you evaluate a student's needs?

By asking which areas she or he feels uncomfortable in!

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

If a student feels he or she knows the subject well but needs a little bit of help, then I would teach the areas he or she needs help in.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

Examples, questions, graphics, and videos!
