What is your teaching philosophy?
Every student learns in his or her own way. It is important to understand how a student learns most effectively, and to use a teaching method that parallels that particular learning style.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Understand what they hope to accomplish in our tutoring session, and assess their strengths and weaknesses in accomplishing that goal.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
By teaching them all the tips, tricks, and techniques I've picked up over the years that have personally helped me become a better learner.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
By presenting the same material in different ways.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
By relating the material to a topic they are interested in.
