As a recent transplant to Seattle, I am incredibly excited to being working with Varsity Tutors as a way to become involved with my community. I recently took the GREs and was admitted to UW's Master's of Social Work program, so the stress and anxiety of standardized test taking is fresh in my memory. For students preparing to take the SATs, ACTs, or GREs - I feel your pain! Together we can work through the daunting process of analyzing your areas of strength and opportunities for growth and put you on the path towards the score you want.
When I am not tutoring, I hope to be exploring the great outdoors and getting to know the Pacific Northwest. I have spent the five years since I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania living in Montana and embracing my inner mountain woman. I love backpacking, trail running, learning about flora and fauna, skiing, and spending as much time as possible with my lovable mutt, Zuca. Fortunately, my job as a wilderness therapist in Montana and Idaho gave me the opportunity to embrace my passions while working with at-risk youth.
I hope to bring passion, energy, organization, and a sense of humor to my tutoring sessions. Students I work with can expect me to push them to set their own goals and invest in their educational aspirations. I will encourage students to figure things out for themselves and provide the guidance they need to do so.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that forming a relationship and developing rapport with a student is essential to tutoring success. In addition, I feel that students need to be invested in their own educational goals. I believe that all students are motivated to learn, but many are hindered from striving to their full potential by lack of encouragement and fear of failure. Instilling confidence in students is critical to their success.
