Although my Bachelor's Degree is in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Pittsburgh, and I plan to become a physical therapist, I am passionate about giving back in one of the most important ways that I know: through education. And it is my goal (and hope) to make learning fun! I grew up with School House Rock and many other learning videos that I can still recite, because, for me, it was fun. In the past, I have helped students come up with cheers, chants, rhymes, and even dances to help remember a concept. While in Pittsburgh, I volunteered at the Shadyside Boys & Girls Club for three years, where I had the opportunity to help mentor and tutor elementary- and middle-school aged children. I've helped students tackle subjects ranging from reading comprehension and vocabulary to Algebra and many others in between. I have also helped high school and college students with essay writing and editing, including proofreading for grammar and spelling, syntax, paragraph structure, and maintaining tense, point-of-view, and voice. My tutoring style is very interactive and cooperative, where I allow the student to walk me through their thinking process as I share with them tricks, tips, and mnemonics. I often refer to the quote of "teaching a person how to fish" rather than just giving them the fish.
I am very flexible as far as scheduling and availability, I am reliable and punctual, and I am resourceful. In my free time, I love to stay active through soccer, running, and dance. I also really enjoy music whether it's live concerts or performances, videos, or the radio. Since moving back to Atlanta, I am also really interested in exploring all the city has to offer.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is that "if you give a person a fish, they eat for one day; but if you teach the person how to fish, they eat forever." I like to guide students to the ways to be able to problem solve rather than just giving them the answers.
