Seventeen years in education teaching and counseling students from different countries in the Caribbean, Asia and the Middle East. And ready to incorporate this interesting North American experience to my resume.

I obtained a diploma for teaching Spanish and French as a Second Language from the Education Canada College of Montreal, Canada. I also hold the highest diploma in French language and culture awarded by the French Ministry of Education. I also have my home country teachers certification from the University of Havana, Cuba.

My years of experience teaching foreign languages internationally has allowed me to see a shift in teaching methodologies from a grammar-centered approach to a communication-centered approach. The qualities I try to instill in my students are to strive for personal excellence and overcome obstacles. I see myself as guide on my students route towards further knowledge.

My teaching strategy is to rapidly identify the needs, weaknesses and strengths of my students so I can better adapt my teaching methodology to best suit their needs. Once I have identified the different learning styles I can develop a variety of activities and methodologies that address these needs. I encourage my students to freely ask questions, express doubts and to never hesitate to express ideas during the lessons.

I consider that in a foreign language class it is necessary to develop the four basic skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. All the while, I emphasize the speaking aspect because it is the most rewarding to the student. I focus on interaction within the classroom maximizing the amount of foreign language used by my students.

Finally, I consider teaching my biggest passion and I put all my effort on it. It is a great satisfaction to help others conquer their educational dreams.
