I am a native Spanish speaker from Colombia. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Advertising, at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana before moving to the United States. I am a graduate of Kean University, New Jersey. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and then studied at the Universidad de Salamanca, in Spain, for my Masters degree in Spanish Language and Culture.

I have worked in Middle and High Blue Ribbon schools teaching all levels from Spanish I to AP Spanish Language. Thanks to my students' recommendations, I have tutored their friends and family members. I also taught some employers who wanted to be able to communicate with coworkers, employees or customers who lived in Spanish-speaking countries.

I have traveled extensively. I am very passionate about learning from other cultures and getting to visit new places. I am aware of the cultural differences between Spanish-speaking countries and their colloquial usage of the language. I like to make sure that I include authentic material, idiomatic expressions, and common phrases, when I teach. I am a firm proponent of global education and cultural awareness, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life. So, I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students as well.

I believe that the result of effective teaching should be self-confidence. In the world language area, students should be able to apply what they have learned in the classroom, in real life scenarios. I know for a fact that every student can learn. I use different teaching styles depending on my students' learning preferences. I like to make my classes fun. I use music, videos, games, and activities that will allow students to feel comfortable and engaged. I am patient and I like to be hands on in accommodating my students' needs.

Spanish is my life and that is why I enjoy what I teach so much. I am confident that I can promote a solid foundation in anyone who wants to be successful at learning about the Spanish language and culture.

In my spare time, I enjoy dancing, exercising, reading, going to the movies, theater, listening to music, cooking, going to restaurants, and being outdoors.
