Does math seem difficult? Or are you looking to master your mathematics skills? After years of tutoring Calculus and Engineering at college and high school, I can help you overcome many math obstacles. I am confident I can tutor math, as I am an Industrial Engineer with a minor in mathematics (up to Advanced & Imaginary Calculus). I would like to add confidence in your math skills and help you grow your ability.

Besides tutoring University of Massachusetts students, I interned at a surgical instruments manufacturing company called Surgistar. I aided in doubling their blade production ability using mathematics and simulation. Also, I patented a premium, adjustable bike seat to address current bicycling discomforts (currently I am seeking to license my invention to manufacturers to produce my seat). I specialize in optimization, so let's have fun learning together and optimize ourselves.

What is your teaching philosophy?

One learns by doing, so plenty of exercises are important for cultivating learning of material.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Go over past graded work and other methods to get a sense of problem areas. Learn what methods the student learns best through. Relate the importance of the subject matter to the student's particular major/career goal.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Attempt different directions and/or alternative methods to solve first. Then, after understanding, describe the original concept again at a high level. Lastly, try a newer and simpler example of the same concept.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Online: What is most successful is to utilize a professional microphone (for clarity), headphones, and having a multitude of different media... like having a white board, pen and paper, and graphing calculator demonstrating different methods of solving problems.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By cultivating the student's growth mindset, the student will become an independent learner. Likewise, the Socratic Method of asking questions and critically thinking can help too.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

Students have grades, pressure to succeed, and the desire to enjoy their work. The question really is: are they optimally motivated? I would help a student be optimally motivated by aligning the subject with their purpose and/or personal values.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

By aligning the subject with a student's purpose, career, and/or personal values, naturally they will be optimally motivated, excited, and engaged to put in the effort needed.
