Tutoring review by Sona in Schererville, IN
He remains curious and open during our sessions. He's also diligent about completing the work and raising questions when he has them. He stated that English isn't his favorite, however, I'm noticing that he's quite good at it and has a sharp, analytical mind.

Tutoring review by Anna in Schererville, IN
Yesterday the student and I started with doing a review of how combinations differ from permutations, and how the two are mathematically related. We then went over the 3 types of permutations/combinations which we had learned last week. We then looked at the final of four scenarios- combinations with repetition. We then spent the rest of the session doing 10-11 practice problems which reviewed all of these types of permutations and combinations. The student did well with these and seemed to really start getting the hang of how to recognize each type of combination and permutation. We'll review this stuff a bit more on Wednesday before moving on to sequences and series.

We went over surface area and volume. The student had no difficulty understanding the objectives of the material. He did forget some basics required to calculate said concepts (i.e. area of a triangle, trapezoid, circle). I reminded him of the simple area formulas then gave him some tips when it came to surface area of certain objects. I went over a couple of examples dealing with different prisms. After showing him the examples, I had the student try a set of problems on his own. Save for a few errors in computing/simplifying expressions the student was able to maneuver through the problems efficiently. We then moved to volume which turned out to be easier for him. He worked through those problems with little to no assistance from me.

We reviewed the student's homework on continuity and increasing/ decreasing/ constant intervals of functions. Since we had gone over it the last session and he had now been taught it in school, the student went through the questions very quickly and understood the material. We then proceeded to preview the next three sections of his textbook. The material was on the many transformations of functions (vertical/ horizontal shifts, reflections, stretching/ shrinking, symmetry, etc.). We did a couple of questions from each section to see if he understood what I had explained.

Tutoring review by Jacqueline in Schererville, IN
We started by talking about the concepts that the student's teacher is covering in class and in what areas she's having difficulty. She expressed that she's struggling with the concept of converting measurement units. So from her textbook we decided to review a previous lesson. We worked together on the guided practice section re-teaching the steps and skills of the examples, reinforcing the benchmarks of converting measurements. Then, I had her work on the independent practice section by herself. I reviewed the steps and skills in completing word problems. She was able to complete the section on her own.

Today's session was very good. We wrote a story in French and reinforced some of the topics we had learned in the past. We also went over some more vocabulary and played games based on the new topics.
