We've had the BEST experience with VT! Our tutor has helped my middle schoolers math grades come up from a D to an A for our 8th grader and from a D to a B for my 6th grader. I'm beyond pleased with how she connected with my boys.

Tutoring review by Srdjan in North Las Vegas, NV
The student just started a new section on systems of linear equations and matrices. So far they covered matrix addition and scalar multiplication but since that is so simple, I worked with her a bit ahead and showed her matrix multiplication and how to turn a word problem into a system of equations.

We covered function limits, derivatives and application of differentiation. The student understands the material quite well but seems to make small mistakes. I will have him keep working on that. We solved problems from his textbook and his previous tests.

Tutoring review by Allison in North Las Vegas, NV
Today we did some homework that the student had that involved equations of parallel and perpendicular lines. She had a really good understanding of how to do these problems. It was seamless! I noticed when she talks herself through the problem out loud, she more quickly catches her mistakes. I told her to look into possibly asking the teacher if she could take tests in an environment that allowed her to talk out loud. Towards the end of our session, she suggested we simulate a test environment by putting a visual timer up and having her do a certain number of problems. We did this twice and she got 4 out of 5 problems correct! The 1 that was incorrect was a small error made by not applying a negative sign. Tomorrow we are going to do more exercises like this. She is a really great student. I really like that she suggests specific things that she wants me to do with her (i.e. simulating the test, etc.).
