Calculus Tutoring review by Kristen in Westminster
Today we continued doing practice problems involving optimization, sketching graphs, and L'Hopital's rule. We went through different ranges of difficulty with each type of problems. The student is definitely working through the problems more quickly than the past couple of sessions. He has the concepts and steps down. We are planning to go over the practice final tomorrow for his final on Friday.

We completed the rest of the student's review packet. I made sure to point out how to be careful when doing implicit differentiation. We talked about how the derivative is just the slope of the tangent line. She was doing very well in geometry so we quickly went through the chapters making sure she was okay with the definitions and theorems.

Calculus Tutoring review by Daniel in Westminster
The student had a homework assignment from class covering the application of the product, quotient and chain rules for solving derivatives. He seems comfortable using the actual calculus concepts, but still has some difficulty with the algebraic techniques necessary to manipulate equations into forms which the calculus rules apply to. To help with this I have started preparing short quizzes for the beginning of our sessions that provide practice examples for the algebraic techniques. The student told me that he felt the quizzes were definitely helping him to understand the material, and I also have seen an improvement in his ability to correctly manipulate the problems.
